Life happens, and sometimes you miss a day of the Vinyl Challenge. A Streak Restore gives you a short grace period to go back and complete the challenge you missed - keeping your streak alive, filling in your monthly challenge grid, and keeping you eligible for challenge badges.
Everything about your restores lives in one place: the Streak restores page in the app's Settings. It shows how many restores you have left this month, any day you can restore right now, and every day you've restored so far.
Monthly limits
Free accounts get 1 Streak Restore each calendar month, and Dead Format Pro members get 3 each month. Restores reset at the start of each month and don't roll over.
How it works
If a day's challenge closes without an entry from you, you have until the end of the following day to restore it. For example:
- Monday's challenge closes and you didn't post.
- On Tuesday, you'll see the option to restore Monday.
- You have until the end of Tuesday to submit your Monday entry.
- After that, Monday can no longer be restored.
When a day can be restored, we'll let you know with a notification, and the day will also be waiting on your Streak restores page in Settings. Restore it from either place and the missed challenge reopens - post your entry just like any other day, and once it's submitted, the day is restored.
Your restore is only used when your post goes through - if you open the challenge and leave without posting, you still have your restore and can come back anytime before the window closes.
Restores are all about saving a streak, so you'll only be offered one when you have a streak going - at least 3 days in a row before the day you missed.
What a restored day counts for
Once your entry is in, a restored day works exactly like any other completed challenge day:
- Your current streak carries on unbroken.
- The day is filled in on your monthly challenge grid.
- It counts toward your monthly participation and completion totals.
- It counts toward challenge badges, including the ones that require posting every day.
