The home feed is the first thing you see when you open the Dead Format app - it's where the community shares what they're spinning, what they found at the record store, and their daily Vinyl Challenge entries.
Following and Discover
There are two feeds, and you can swipe between them:
- Following - posts from the collectors you follow.
- Discover - posts from across the community, from people you don't follow yet. A quick way to find new collectors - you can follow anyone right from their post.
If your Following feed is looking quiet, we'll suggest some collectors to get you started. Pull down on either feed to refresh, or tap the Home tab again to jump back to the top.
Interacting with posts
Tap the heart to like a post (double-tapping a photo works too), or tap the comment bubble to join the conversation. Comments support replies and likes, and you can mention other users with @username. Photos can be pinch-zoomed right in the feed, so you can get a good look at that pressing.
Posts with a song attached play a 30 second preview right in the feed - tap the play button on the song bar, or tap through to open it in Apple Music.
The ... menu on every post has more options: copy a link to the post, share it, or save it for later. On your own posts you can also edit, delete, or choose Create Instagram story to turn the post into a ready-made story image you can share straight to Instagram.
Saving posts
See something you want to come back to? Choose Save post from a post's ... menu. Your saved posts live in the home menu under Saved posts, and only you can see them.
Searching
Tap the search icon at the top of the feed to search people, posts, and record stores. Post results can be sorted by Top or Recent.
Not interested in a post?
Choose Hide from the ... menu to remove a post from your feeds. From there you can also block the user or report the post if it breaks our rules - reports go straight to our moderators.
Feed settings
Head to Settings > Home feed to make the feed yours:
- Daily challenges - show or hide the Vinyl Challenge card on your home feed.
- Autoplay videos - play videos automatically as you scroll. They always start muted.
- Show NSFW content - NSFW posts are blurred by default; enable this to view them without the blur.
