Artist Name
Enter the full, official name of the artist.
Use the most common or well-known name if multiple versions exist.
Avoid abbreviations unless they are part of the official name.
Sort Name
Use this field to ensure proper alphabetical sorting (e.g., “The Menzingers” will be sorted as “Menzingers, The”)
For individuals, typically use "Last Name, First Name".
For groups, use the full group name unless it starts with "The".
Disambiguation
Use this field to distinguish between artists with the same or similar names.
Keep it brief and factual (e.g., "1980s punk band from Minneapolis").
Required if another artist with the same name already exists in the database.
Location
Specify the city, region, or state where the artist is primarily associated.
Use current names for locations, not historical ones.
For groups, use the location where they were formed or are mainly based.
Country
Select the country most associated with the artist's career or origin.
For artists who have moved, use the country where they gained prominence or spent most of their career.
Description
Provide a brief, factual overview of the artist. Typically no more than a paragraph is necessary.
Focus on key information like genre, notable works, or significant career moments.
Avoid subjective opinions or promotional language.
Artist Image
Minimum size: 200x200 pixels
Should be representative of the band or artist
Preferably a professional photo or widely recognized image of the artist
For bands, try to include all current members if possible
Edit Comment (for edits)
Clearly explain the reason for any edits to existing artist entries.
Provide sources for new information when possible.
Be concise but informative to help maintain data integrity.
